This Council is an extension of a political assembly that had been established by a group of Syrian diplomats who defected/resigned from the Syrian Foreign Affairs, started in 2012. The members specialized in international affairs, politics, law and economics. The Council echoed the aims of that organization for after calling political transition in Syria and the attainment of the independence of the Syrian political decision. In addition, the Council calls for striking a distinction between the regime and its repressive apparatus, and the Syrian State institutions.

Objectives of the Council The council calls, through its activities and intellectual production, for the re-birth of Syria as a civil, democratic state in which citizenship is equal for all Syrians through equal rights and duties. The Council believes in establishing a political system based on the principles of political pluralism, the rule of law, equal opportunities and duties, restraining the powers of the executive authorities and preventing security (services’ domination) over such authorities.
